Wolf Man

Wolf Man was a long process. The first draft was written during the uncertainty of Covid and it went through many ups and downs before getting made. The one thing that stayed constant was my belief in the approach to a werewolf story. Of all the scripts I’ve written, this one is the most personal. It reflects not only the anxiety of parenthood but also the fear of disease and the tragedy of having a family member taken away from you by it. I loved the idea of switching between two worlds and depicting a husband and wife who could no longer understand each other, literally and figuratively. The script, which was co-written by my wife Corbett, went through many little changes on set and you’ll see those differences here. One thing I love doing when I’m writing is create a unique visual language for each film, something I feel audiences haven’t seen before. And then, once the script is written, the fun part of figuring out how to achieve that begins. Stefan Duscio, the cinematographer who has shot my last three films, is very adept at coming up with creative ways to interpret whatever crazy idea I have thrown at him. The ‘wolf vision’ aspects of this film were difficult but I’m really proud of where we ended up.
